Would anyone like to swap houses with me? I suppose there's a website for that kind of thing, but I thought I'd try here first. I got the idea from the movie "The Holiday" where Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet switched homes for a couple of weeks.  The difference is I don't live in L.A. or England, and Jude Law doesn't live here in Omaha.

Even without Jude Law, Omaha's not so bad. I read somewhere that a woman in Cleveland was able to trade off her house, and Omaha is not much worse than Cleveland. We're just 500 miles from Chicago,  500 miles from Denver, and there's not much traffic in between. We're just 20 hours from the beach so bring your bathing suit. But we're not beach people, so don't expect a lot of laughing and splashing around.

The New York Times even did an article about us last week called "Omaha's Culture Club". Yeah, this is a hot spot. For the younger set, Omaha is probably best known as the home of a whole bunch of indie rock musicians — members of the Faint, Cursive, the Good Life, Tilly and the Wall, Azure Ray and, most famously, Bright Eyes. Older folks might try to get lucky with Warren Buffet the rich investor. I'm thinking the women, but a man might try. Hey, what have you got to lose?

Just remember to turn back your clock. When it's 5 o'clock in New York, it's 1974 in Omaha.  Oh, and you know you'll be safe here--this is where Bush came on 9/11.
